Organisation overview
Self Help Africa (SHA) and United Purpose (UP) merged in late 2021 to implement projects to end extreme hunger and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa. Job Purpose
United Purpose is going to implement a project named ‘Humanitarian Assistance of Protection and Empowerment for Vulnerable Communities in Rohingya Camp (HOPE)’. For the successful implementation of the project activities, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to support the delivery of treatment services at the Rohingya camp level. The ideal candidate will have experience working in humanitarian or healthcare settings, strong organisational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in the Chittagonian dialect. This role is critical in supporting medical officers, maintaining accurate patient and medicine records, and ensuring coordination with relevant health sector stakeholders in the camp..
Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Assist the Medical Officer with daily treatment services, patient consultations, and follow-ups.
- Communicate with patients in the Chittagonian dialect to ensure clear understanding and cultural sensitivity.
- Maintain accurate records of patient details, including medical history and treatment provided.
- Ensure regular reporting to sectors and higher management in due time.
- Ensure safe storage and proper handling of all medicines and medical supplies.
- Keep detailed and up-to-date inventory records of medicines, ensuring accurate stock levels.
- Raise timely requisitions for medicine and medical supplies based on usage and stock levels.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other health sector actors and stakeholders operating in the camp.
- Support health awareness and patient education efforts when needed.
- Comply with organisational guidelines, medical protocols, and data confidentiality standards..

External: CiC (Camp-in-Charge) & ACiC (Assistant Camp-in-Charge), RRRC (Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner), UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer), Site Management and Site Development Authority (SMSD), ISCG (Inter-Sector Coordination Group), Mazhi (Community Leaders/ Representatives), Health Sector Partners, Camp Security Authority.

Educational Requirements
Minimum Diploma or Certificate in Medical Assistance or a related field.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role within humanitarian or camp settings preferred.
Language Requirements:
• Fluency in Chittagonian dialect and Bengali is required. Proficiency in English is a plus.
Job Requirements
- Good knowledge of medical terminology, patient care practices, and medicine management.
- Strong record-keeping and inventory management skills.
- Have report writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural and high-pressure environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
