Organisation overview
Self Help Africa (SHA) and United Purpose (UP) merged in late 2021 to implement projects to end extreme hunger and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa. Job Purpose
United Purpose is going to implement a project named ‘Humanitarian Assistance of Protection and Empowerment for Vulnerable Communities in Rohingya Camp (HOPE)’. For the successful implementation of the project activities, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Midwife to provide essential treatment services to Rohingya refugees at the camp level. The Midwife will be responsible for providing comprehensive maternal and reproductive healthcare services at the health post level within the Rohingya refugee camps. Working closely with the Medical Officer and Medical Assistant, the Midwife will support patient management, ensure timely and compassionate care for treatment seekers, and contribute to safe and culturally sensitive clinical practices.
Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Assist the Medical Officer and Medical Assistant in the assessment, examination, and care of patients, particularly women and children.
- Provide antenatal, delivery, postnatal, and family planning services according to national guidelines and organizational protocols.
- Ensure timely identification and referral of obstetric emergencies to higher-level care.
- Educate and counsel patients and their families on reproductive health, breastfeeding, newborn care, hygiene, and nutrition.
- Maintain accurate records of maternal and newborn care, including patient files and registers.
- Ensure proper infection prevention and control (IPC) measures are followed at all times.
- Participate in regular health post meetings and training sessions to improve service delivery.
- Support community outreach activities as needed to promote health-seeking behaviour.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to women and families during and after delivery.
- Uphold patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.

External: CiC (Camp-in-Charge) & ACiC (Assistant Camp-in-Charge), RRRC (Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner), UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer), Site Management and Site Development Authority (SMSD), ISCG (Inter-Sector Coordination Group), Mazhi (Community Leaders/ Representatives), Health Sector Partners, Camp Security Authority.
Knowledge, Experience and Other Requirements:

Educational Requirements
- Certified Midwife from a recognized institution (Diploma or higher).
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years of practical experience in maternal and newborn care, preferably in emergency or low-resource settings.
- Previous experience working in humanitarian settings or with refugee populations is an advantage..
Language Requirements:
• Fluency in Chittagonian Dialect & Bengali is required. Proficiency in English is a plus.

- Based at field-level health post stationed within the Rohingya refugee camps.
- May require flexible working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
