Self Help Africa has always believed in the value of partnerships and working with others to deliver better results. It’s the very foundation of how we deliver our projects in Africa.

By working more closely with groups of smallholder farmers we can help them collectively to achieve more profitable returns for their communities.

That’s why we are so pleased to be able to announce our merger with Ireland’s longest established development agency, Gorta. Both organisations share a similar inclusive vision of how best to help farming families to grow more and ultimately earn more from their labours.

By working together, we believe we can substantially increase the number of people we can help in the coming years. Our target for 2014/15 is to reach more than 500,000 rural farming families, approximately three million people.

Cost savings at an estimated half a million a year will be used to create further opportunities for smallholder farmers in our core countries across East and West Africa.

Here in the UK our name will remain Self Help Africa.

Thank you for your continued interest in our work. We firmly believe that the coming years will see us deliver even bigger improvements to the lives of millions.
