The Chief Executive and President of the ONE Campaign, a former Kenyan parliamentarian who is a Professor of Nutrition, and young founder of a Zambian agri-business network for women will be amongst the speakers at Self Help Africa’s 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) Webinar, this March.

This year’s sixth annual webinar, on the UN International Women’s Day theme: ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls’ will take place at 12 noon (GMT) on Monday, 9 March, and will feature contributions from women from Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria and Malawi who are engaged in academia, agriculture and activism.

Self Help Africa’s International Women’s Day Webinar has become a central part of our annual calendar, and provides an opportunity to hear voices from countries of the global south share their stories and experiences.

This year’s International Women’s Day Webinar, which will run from 12 noon to 1:30 pm, will be moderated by Self Help Africa’s newly appointed CEO, Niamh De Loughry.

Meet the speakers:

Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli
CEO, ONE CAMPAIGN
Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli is the President and CEO of ONE Campaign. She holds an MBA from Harvard University, is the founder of Sahel Consulting Agriculture & Nutrition – West Africa’s leading agri-food ecosystem consulting firm, of African Food Changemakers in Nigeria, and AACE Foods, which produces a range of packaged spices. Ndidi Nwuneli is currently on the boards of Stanbic IBTC Group, and the Forum of the Young Global Leaders.

Professor Ruth Oniang’o
Editor in Chief, African Journal of Food, Agriculture, Nutrition and Development (AJFAND)
Professor Ruth Oniang’o is  a former Kenyan parliamentarian and the founder of agri-food NGO Rural Outreach Africa. The recipient of a Master’s Degree from Washington State University in 1973, Ruth Oniang’o was a lecturer and Professor of Nutrition at Jomo Kenyatta University in Nairobi, and served as Shadow Minister for Education, Science and Technology during a term in the Kenyan parliament in the early 2000s. She is now the Editor-in Chief and Founder of the African Journal of Food, Agriculture, Nutrition and Development.

Elizabeth Maanda
CEO, Agri-Queens
Elizabeth Maanda is a young Zambian agronomist who is a UN Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Forest Champion and a Nuffield Scholar. She is also the founder of ‘Agro-Queens’, a network for women involved in agri-business, focusing on integrated farming enterprise in the production of high value vegetables, aquaculture, indigenous birds and grains. Agro queens also trains start up and emerging farmers in farming as a business.

Jacqueline Chalemera
Self Help Africa, Malawi
Jacqueline is a Nutrition Specialist and Project Manager at Self Help Africa Malawi, with over 10 years of experience in nutrition programming. She leads a food fortification initiative working with schools, hospitals and farmer cooperatives to expand access to fortified maize flour and biofortified crops, and serves as Treasurer of the Nutrition Society of Malawi.
