Speaking out about the Sustainable Development Goals

Speaking out, being seen – it was all about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at Global Green. Gorta-Self Help Africa returned to the annual Electric Picnic festival from 1-3 September 2017, as part of the Global Green village.

Festival-goers were invited to voice their opinions on the Goals, specifically those that relate to the work of Gorta-Self Help Africa – Gender Equality, Climate Action, No Poverty and Ending Hunger. Participants shared their thoughts on speech and thought bubbles, which were then shared on the Self Help Africa Instagram feed. Click here to follow us and see the pics!

Our Two Villages project in northern Zambia was also showcased at Global Green, via a multimedia exhibition that told the stories of some of the people who we work with – and how this work in Zambia relates to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted in 2015 with the aim of ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all by 2030.
