Global Greening with Electric Picnickers!

Self Help Africa2020Development Education, News

For more than a decade, Self Help Africa has joined the Global Green community at Electric Picnic, engaging with festival-goers and raising awareness about a range of social justice issues along the way.

It’s been an effort to bring our brand of fun to the festival – seeking to engage, entertain, amuse and encourage Picnickers to think about some of the topics that are important to us all.

Whether that’s climate change, trade justice, gender equality, the importance of sustainable food systems, or the benefits of tree planting, we’ve brought it all to EP, talking to thousands, and being helped by hundreds of festival goers, on the way.

We’ve presented videos, photo expos and have contributed to talks, debates and presentations as part of the Global Green community at EO.

Below are just some of the activities that Electric Picnickers have joined us in, through the years.

While coronavirus prevented us from being with you in 2020, we hope to see you all again soon!

Hug a Tree at EP – Self Help Africa at Electric Picnic in 2019
‘Around the World in 80 Actions’ – Taking action on the SDGs while channelling our inner Jules Verne! (2018)
‘What’s Your Goal?’ – Asking Electric Picnickers about the Sustainable Development Goals (2017)
“COP On to Climate Change’ at Electric Picnic in 2015
‘Flour Power’ – Milling Flour the Traditional Way and Talking about Food Production at Electric Picnic (2016)
‘The Picnic People’s Puppet Forum’ – Speak Out with Puppets at Electric Picnic (2014)
‘Think Africa’ – Challenging People’s Perceptions of the African Continent at Electric Picnic (2014)
