Global Green & Global Solidarity Hub
Electric Picnic is Ireland’s ultimate rock n’ roll circus with a great selection of music, art, theatre, comedy, food and holistic health. We're there every year, bringing games and activities, and engaging in festival govers as part of the festival's Global Green community.
We're also at National Ploughing Championships each year, collaborating with other NGOs and raising aware of social justice issues as a part of the Global Solidarity Hub.
Africa Adapting
'Africa Adapting' is the latest exhibition created by Self Help Africa to deepen understanding of the work that we do.
The exhibition features the stories of women and girls who are harnessing information, science and markets to mobilise their communities in response to the climate crisis and other challenges.
The exhibition is available in a freestanding and wall-mounted form, and is available to exhibit at your school, community centre or library. It is also available online here.
If you would like to present this exhibition just drop us a line!
BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition
The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is an event designed to raise schools’ engagement in the critical subjects of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). The Exhibition calls upon students aged 12-19 years from all over the island of Ireland to showcase innovative science and technology projects.
Self Help Africa coordinates a Special Award at this annual competition. Find out more about the Science for Development programme.
AFRICA VISIT
Students and teachers from more than 60 post-primary schools have travelled with Self Help Africa on week-long schools study visits to Africa, in the past 20 years. These trips take place at mid-term, and include visits to cultural sites, meetings with school counterparts and visits to communities with whom Self Help Africa works.
Participating schools are required to fundraise to cover the costs of their visit, with travelling students selected from written submissions and interviews that are coordinated with each school. Students are encouraged to give talks and presentations on their experience. Find out more by e-mailing: [email protected]
