Self Help Africa were joined by hundreds of festival-goers at this year’s Global Green at Electric Picnic. It was great to return once more to an event we’ve enjoyed being part of for more than a decade now!
At our stand, we went ‘Back to the Future’ – showcasing traditional methods of farming, such as digging zai holes, mulching, composting and drip irrigation. These methods are proving invaluable to the farmers in Africa we work with, in the facing of a changing climate. We also highlighted the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence on agriculture in Africa – the future of farming.
Climate justice is always high on the agenda at Global Green. Ahead of the upcoming COP28 summit in Dubai this November, we invited festival-goers to sign our petition for climate justice for Africa, calling for the climate funding gap to be closed.
We brought along our giant globe of the world and invited visitors to our stand to share their wish for a better future – what would yours be?
Global Green at Electric Picnic is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our work with Irish Aid as we work to achieve the SDGs. We enjoyed meeting you all and we can’t wait for next year!
