A message for our One Million Trees partners Glenisk

Self Help AfricaNews

We are devastated for our close friends and partners, Glenisk, following a devastating fire at their Offaly manufacturing facility. Thankfully, no one was hurt and all staff were evacuated safely.

Our partnership with Glenisk on ‘One Million Trees,’ has allowed us to plant close to 1.7 million trees on the African continent, and tens of thousands of new native trees at home in Ireland over the last 18 months. .

Glenisk have long been leaders in sustainability in Ireland, and we’re very proud to work alongside them.

CEO Vincent Cleary has also mentored dairy based agri-businesses in Kenya and Ethiopia on how to scale up operations and achieve something of the successes that Glenisk have enjoyed in Ireland.

In the midst of a pandemic last year, the support of Glenisk promoted Self Help Africa to millions of Irish consumers thanks to our presence on Glenisk’s Bio Organic Yogurt pots and milk cartons for One Million Trees. The campaign has been an overwhelming success for Self Help Africa during an extremely difficult time for our public fundraising, and we’re extremely grateful to Glenisk for their generosity.

The fire is a huge blow to Glenisk, its staff, suppliers, its loyal customers, and to the whole community.

Our best wishes and thoughts are with the Cleary family and all of the team at Glenisk, at this difficult time.
