We’re thrilled to be taking part in The Shropshire Way Festival this year, hosting a one day walk in the heart of Shropshire’s beautiful countryside!

Our 12-mile walk will take place on Stage 15 of the Shropshire Way, from Nesscliffe along the river into Shrewsbury town centre, finishing at the Shropshire Way sculpture on Kingsland Bridge.

The route will start with an ascent of Nesscliffe Hill, one of Shropshire’s ancient Hill Forts, before joining the Severn Way all the way to Shrewsbury, along picturesque river meadows, making for a moderate walk.

Tickets are priced at £20 which includes transport to Nesscliffe from Shrewsbury, refreshments and a certificate at the end, with proceeds to Self Help Africa. You will be required to bring your own packed lunch.

In rural Africa, farmers walk long distances to sell their produce at the local market, women are faced with long walks to collect daily essentials like firewood and water and children walk miles to attend school.

Walk This Way for SHA will help to provide smallholder farmers with the tools, training and the necessary support to anticipate a future free from hunger and poverty. If you would like to further support the cause, we would be very grateful if you could raise funds through sponsorship or by making a donation above the entry fee. You can set up an online sponsorship page using Just Giving, Virgin Money Giving or Wonderful Participants who raise more than £50 in sponsorship (excluding gift aid) will be awarded with a Self Help Africa t-shirt, which you could wear on the day!

Places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
