Big Give 2016: Double your Donation

Self Help AfricaNews

We’re very excited to let you know that Self Help Africa has been selected to participate in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2016.

Big Give is the UK’s largest match funding campaign. Last year the Christmas Challenge raised more than £20,000 for our work. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to raise funds and build awareness.

Donate online through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, and your donation to Self Help Africa could be doubled, helping your money go further for African farmers.

We’ll be raising money for our ‘Farmer Seed Enterprise’ project; providing farmers with the skills to produce their own seed. In 2017, the funds raised through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be used to support the continuation of this work in Oromia region of Ethiopia, working in areas affected by erratic rainfall and changing weather patterns. We’ll support farmers to produce drought-tolerant seed varieties, enabling them to mitigate the worst effects of a changing climate. Better seed results in bigger harvests, which mean fewer people facing hunger.

In order to access the vital match funding that we have secured, we need to receive online donations via our Big Give page from 12pm (midday) Tuesday 29th November – 12pm Friday 2nd December 2016.

Match funding is offered on a first-come first-served basis so we recommend taking part on the first day of the challenge for the highest chance of having your donation matched. Donations will be doubled until the funds run out.

A gift of £35 this Christmas could be doubled to £70, helping to support many more farmers and their families to improve their harvests and earn a living.

Please do feel free to spread the word to anyone you might know that would be interested in supporting our work. The more donations we get doubled, the more we can help African farmers to feed their families this Christmas.
