World Environment Day is an annual event celebrated on June 5th to encourage environmental action and protection. First held in 1974, over the years World Environmen Dayhas grown to a broad, global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated by participants in over 100 countries.
The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “Ecosystem Restoration.” We must strive to continue creating sustainable ways of living, working and development while protecting, restoring and creating new ecosystems for future generations.
At Self Help Africa we’re committed to the objectives of World Environment Day, with regenerative agriculture, climate smart farming practices and reforestation efforts at the core of much of our work with small-scale farming communities in Africa.
To mark World Environment Day, we’d love to you get behind our Another One Million Trees campaign. Your donation of just £5 will plant a tree in Ireland/UK, and another 10 in Africa!
These trees are being planted in collaboration with local communities, farming cooperatives and an array of local partners, and will see large and small-scale tree planting activities taking place in countries across sub-Saharan Africa such as Zambia, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Kenya and Uganda.
