We are aiming to raise £40,000 through this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge. Support received will be invested in developing sustainable seed systems so that local farming families can be assured access to good quality planting seed.

Good quality seed can make or break harvests in rural Africa. Self Help Africa provides farmers with the skills to produce their own seed. Quality seed production will provide food and an income for seed growers and increased harvests for farmers sowing the seed.

Better seed leads to bigger harvests and less people hungry. We train and support resource-poor, smallholder farmers to multiply and produce certified seed of improved local varieties, support them to establish local seed enterprises, and trade seed surpluses.
