Double Your Donation With The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2023

Self Help AfricaFundraising, News

This Christmas, we’re delighted to be taking part in the UK’s biggest online match-funding campaign to improve child nutrition and sanitation in Baringo County, Kenya. The Big Give Christmas Challenge takes place over one week from 28th November to 5th December and we have £15,000 of match-funding available to double your donations.

Following five consecutive below-average rainy seasons and, more recently, flash floods – the ASAL (arid and semi-arid) region of Kenya is facing immense humanitarian needs. Over 5.4 million people are currently food insecure, and children’s lives and futures are at risk, with rising malnutrition and a high dropout rate in schools.

By supporting our Big Give Christmas Challenge you’ll be helping to deliver nutrition and health education to 30 schools in Baringo County, alongside the provision of kitchen gardens and small livestock rearing; to improve dietary diversity whilst providing an income generating and learning activity. Schools will also receive rainwater harvesting and storage equipment, to improve access to water, and hand washing kits for hygiene and sanitation.

Donations to this project will be matched during the campaign, meaning your money can support twice as many children and their families.

Steph Smith, Fundraising Campaigns Manager said; “For seven days only, from midday on 28th November – 5th December, every contribution, big or small, that’s made to us through The Big Give will be doubled, meaning that we can achieve twice as much with your donation!”

“We know that the cost of living is having a huge impact, and really do appreciate every donation made – every £1 will take us closer to our target.”

Last year The Big Give Christmas Challenge raised a record £28.6 million for 1,021 charities and was promoted by a number of celebrities including Dame Judi Dench, Claudia Winkelman, Stephen Fry and Chris Packham.

Donations to this project via theBigGive.org.uk will be matched for 7 days only from 12pm (midday) on 28th November. An amazing £15,000 of match-funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and donations will be doubled until the funds run out.
