Based on the hit TV Show Strictly Ballroom, Self Help Africa is creating our very own “Ballroom Battles” event. We have assembled our fledgling fox-trotters, budding ballerinas and up-and-coming congo stars for an entertaining competitive dance off in October in partnership with the London Irish Centre.

The inaugural Ballroom Battles showpiece which takes place on the 27th October is certain to get feet stomping and toes tapping in equal measure before a live London audience.

Dancers are being trained by a professional choreographer for six weeks preceding the event and will be fully prepared to perform on the night. Training will kicks off in September and will take place weekly until the event.

What our dancers have signed up to:

• Time: Weekly training will commence in September and the dancers will train for 4 hours a week in the 6 week leading up to the event.
• Raise sponsorship: As this is a fundraiser, dancers will each be required to raise funds for their participation and could really use your help.
• Sell tickets to Live Show: Each dancer is required to sell tickets for the Live Show.
• Get sponsors and sell advertising: If you can help us to generate sponsorship – either in the form of corporate backing of programme advertising, this will all contribute towards your fundraising target for the event.

We are working with Kevin Rowe Events, the leading Ballroom Battles Event Manager in the country. And as anyone who has participated in one of Kevin’s Ballroom Battles events will testify, it is one of the best experiences ever!
