Walford & North Shropshire College’s ‘Scholars Restaurant’ will host a mouthwatering treat for foodie fans next month, when celebrity chef Marcus Bean teams up with the student-led eatery for a pop-up charity night’s dining in support of Self Help Africa.
The event takes place as part of this year’s ‘Oswestry Food and Drink Festival’, with the Shropshire-based TV chef in the kitchens at Scholars’ for one night only on Saturday, July 12th.
The upcoming event is being organized with Walford and North Shropshire College (WNSC), and will provide diners with the chance to savour Marcus Bean’s culinary skills on an evening that will showcase a rich variety of great locally-sourced food.
Alongside the three-course meal, guests will be also treated to a canapé demonstration by Marcus Bean, together with a brief introductory tutorial on wines courtesy of local wine merchants Twelve Green Bottles. Select wines will be available to purchase on the night. The evening will also include a raffle and silent auction, with great prizes on offer including a session at Marcus Bean’s Brompton Cookery School, and a fabulous cast iron Coalbrookdale cooking pot from AGA.
A regular on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ programme, Marcus Bean is the patron of the Catering and Hospitality Department at the Oswestry campus, and was on hand to perform the official opening of the campus’s innovative student-led ‘Scholars Restaurant,’ last Autumn.
The pop-up evening with Marcus Bean takes place on Saturday, 12th July from 7pm, and tickets, to include a complimentary glass of proscecco on arrival, three-course meal and wine tutorial are now on sale priced £35 per person. Numbers are limited to 34, and early booking is recommended.
