The Ukraine Crisis

The Gorta Group is working to assist people affected by the war in Ukraine.

Right now, we are supporting a regional hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk, 270km from the Slovak border.

Although the areas was bombed by Russian planes on day two of the war, it continues to be accessible and is on one of the evacuation routes out of Ukraine for refugees fleeing the fighting.

The hospital previously received all its medical supplies from the central government in Kyiv but must now resource from other sources. This is a general hospital which covers the full range of paediatric, maternity and general medical treatment.

The hospital is now working to an overloaded capacity because of the volume of people who are fleeing west from the bombing in the east. It is receiving casualties from the west but is running out of critical medicines and other supplies.

Right now, our team is purchasing medical supplies in neighboring markets (mainly in Slovakia) to transport into Ukraine and directly to this hospital, where we are coordinating with chief medic Dr Natalia Gluskho.

Your support is critical. Please donate what you can to supply a Ukrainian hospital with vital medicines as it faces an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Your generosity will make a real and immediate difference to the people in desperate need.
