Farmer-led environment and land rehabilitation activities in east and southern Africa led to almost 2.5 million trees and seedlings being planted, and tens of thousands of hectares\u00a0<\/strong>of degraded farmland restored, in work that Self Help Africa supported in four countries in east and southern Africa, last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A total of over 50,000 farming households worked on environmentally focussed projects that were designed to restore degraded farm land, support communities to adapt to the effects of changing climate, and increase farming productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two of these projects, in Malawi and Kenya, were backed by Global Evergreening Alliance (GEA), a partnership of environmental organisations that is working to rehabilitate degraded land and support a sustainable farming future for local communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Farmer-led environment and land rehabilitation activities in east and southern Africa planted 2.5 million trees and seedlings, last year.<\/p>\n Read More<\/a>","protected":false},"author":25,"featured_media":9923,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[687,652,681,677,637,679],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-9922","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-climate-change","category-ethiopia","category-kenya","category-malawi","category-news","category-zambia"],"yoast_head":"\n\n
