Without any means of scaling up her business and reaching her potential, she was struggling to make ends meet.<\/p>\n<p>When Bezina joined the Abdi Gudina SACCO, supported by Self Help Africa, she started saving about one euro a month. After a while, she was able to get her very first loan:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was very happy when I received my first loan\u201d Bezina remembers, smiling. \u201cI had the motivation, but not the money, so when I got the loan, I started my business immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI used my first loan to buy a juice making machine, and started selling juice, and then coffee., I even started opening my grocery store 24 hours per day.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"x-resp-embed x-is-video x-is-youtube\"><iframe title=\"Small loan helps Bezina become a successful businesswoman\" width=\"877\" height=\"493\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-QOhpzlckm0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Today, Bezina owns three grocery stores, employs six people and is financially independent from her husband.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re dependent on your husband or someone else, it\u2019s very hard, so I am very happy to be financially independent. It\u2019s good for the family because there is no argument over money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bezina now wants to grow her businesses, invest in her childrens\u2019 education and a better home.
