We\u2019re pleased to once-more take part in the UK’s biggest online match-funding campaign, giving our supporters the chance to double their donations to combat hunger and poverty in Baringo County in Kenya, this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The annual Big Give Christmas Challenge<\/strong> takes place for one week only from 3rd<\/sup>– 10th<\/sup> December<\/strong>, when we’re aiming to match fund donations of up to \u00a315,000 – which will allow us to invest up to \u00a330,000 in this life-changing work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A semi-arid region where most people live on small-farms on in semi-nomadic communities, over half of Baringo’s population of 670,000 live in poverty, with young people and female-headed households most affected. Low agricultural productivity has resulted in frequent food and nutrition insecurity, leading to high rates of stunting among children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n With your support in our Big Give Challenge, we can make a difference to thousands of lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mother2Mother Support Groups will be taught about maternal, infant and child nutrition including breastfeeding and dietary diversity.\u00a0\u00a0Cone-shaped kitchen gardens and poultry rearing initiatives will enhance household food security and improved nutrition, farmer groups will be provided with drought-tolerant seeds and seedlings, and Farmer Field Schools will be supported with training programmes that to spread best practice in climate-adaptive farming, resulting in strong yields and a reduction of post-harvest losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
