Their bond has always been close. As the only daughter in a family of boys, Lynda says that she has always turned to her mum for advice, and would help her in any way that she could around the home.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"x-resp-embed x-is-video x-is-youtube\"><iframe title=\"#INSPIRINGSTORIES - Veronica &amp; Linda\" width=\"877\" height=\"493\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aWMS7Z4TH1E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure><p>Veronica is a \u2018lead farmer\u2019 with Self Help Africa in southern Malawi. Her farm is a demonstration site where new crops and farming techniques are applied, while she attends training courses and shares the knowledge that she gets with others.<\/p><p>It\u2019s a role that gives her some responsibility in her community. Her daughter is proud that she has this role.<\/p><p>\u201cIf I was to recommend anyone for this position it would be my mum. She\u2019s bright, she\u2019s capable, and when she puts her mind to something, she\u2019s very determined,\u201d Lynda says.<\/p><p>Lynda has been living at home since failing her school final exams. \u201cI was always at the top of the class in school, but in my final year I was distracted. I messed up.\u201d It meant that she couldn\u2019t further her education.<\/p><p>Veronica is currently saving up so that she can fund Lynda\u2019s return to school, next year. She was already a mother when she was 17, but wants a different future for her own daughter. \u201cShe has the brains. I want her to go to college and have a career.
