Older, traditional farming methods are proving effective in the wake of a changing climate. Self Help Africa worked on the project in collaboration with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.proveye.io\/\">Proveye<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; a company based at the UCD Nova Centre in Dublin. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Remote sensing software has been created to manage forests and assess carbon stocks in African forests and farms. The work is being carried out together with<em><a href=\"https:\/\/treemetrics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/treemetrics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Treemetrics<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; a Cork-based forestry tech company. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A smartphone app that uses AI technology is being used to detect viral disease in cassava crops, long before it is apparent to the human eye. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/plantvillage.psu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PlantVillage Nuru<\/a> <\/strong>was developed at Penn State University in the United States.
