{"id":1278,"date":"2013-10-18T10:31:11","date_gmt":"2013-10-18T09:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selfhelpafrica.org\/new\/ie\/news\/working-with-schools\/"},"modified":"2016-12-21T14:45:39","modified_gmt":"2016-12-21T14:45:39","slug":"working-with-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/selfhelpafrica.org\/ie\/working-with-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Working with schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Self Help Africa is involved in an innovative new programme that is leading the promotion and implementation of global citizenship education in Ireland, on behalf of the Irish Government.<\/p>\n<p>A new programme for post-primary schools across Ireland, &#8216;WorldWise Global Schools (WWGS) is tasked with increasing the number, spread and mix of schools engaging with quality development education activities.<\/p>\n<p>WorldWise provides training and support to teachers, and is also a grant-making body providing funding support on behalf of Irish Aid to schools wishing to develop global citizenship activities in the classroom. Self Help Africa is the lead partner in a WWGS consortium that also includes Concern Worldwide, and the City of Dublin Training Board Curriculum Development Unit.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Self Help Africa continues its own active Development Education unit, arranging presentations and workshops on behalf of the organisation in a network of close to 100 post-primary schools across Ireland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Self Help Africa is involved in an innovative new programme that is leading the promotion and implementation of global citizenship education in Ireland, on behalf of the Irish Government.
