We will seek to ensure people have access to safe nutritious food, water, decent employment and incomes, without degrading their natural resources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We will do this from fragile contexts through to emerging economies. We will also seek to drive social change through policy and advocacy work that engages institutions and the wider public in our countries of operation and globally.<\/p>\n<\/div><hr class=\"x-line e28538-e7 mm0q-2 mm0q-3\"\/><div class=\"x-image e28538-e8 mm0q-5 mm0q-6 mm0q-7 mm0q-8\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/selfhelpafrica.org\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/03\/mission.vision.values.jpg\" width=\"1291\" height=\"877\" alt=\"Image\"><\/div><hr class=\"x-line e28538-e9 mm0q-2 mm0q-3\"\/><\/div><\/div><div id=\"\" class=\"x-container max width\" style=\"margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;\" ><div  class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-1\" style=\"padding: 0px;\" ><hr class=\"x-line e28538-e12 mm0q-c\"\/><div id=\"\" class=\"x-text\" style=\"\" ><h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #8cc540;\">WHAT WE WILL DO<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"\" class=\"x-container max width\" style=\"margin: 0px auto;padding: 20px 0px;\" ><div  class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-3\" style=\"padding: 0px;\" ><div id=\"\" class=\"x-text cs-ta-left\" style=\"\" ><h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SYSTEMS<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>We consider agriculture key to reducing hunger poverty in rural areas and to driving growth that prioritises the poorest.<\/p>\n<p>It is fundamental to the sustainable food systems we\u00a0promote, which are required to address chronic undernutrition and deliver healthy, safe and affordable diets in rural and\u00a0urban areas.<\/p>\n<p>People, especially women, must also have the resources and\u00a0agency to make positive decisions about their diet and lives.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure food systems are sustainable, those involved in\u00a0producing and processing food must enjoy decent and\u00a0safe\u00a0employment and incomes. Communities must be able to\u00a0address their own development needs through bottom-up,\u00a0decentralised community-led planning.<\/p>\n<\/div><hr class=\"x-line e28538-e17 mm0q-2 mm0q-3\"\/><\/div><div  class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-3\" style=\"padding: 0px;\" ><div id=\"\" class=\"x-text cs-ta-left\" style=\"\" ><h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPES<\/strong><\/h5>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p>Where we work, land is primarily used for agriculture and its\u00a0success is dependent on a healthy ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Economies highly reliant on natural resources, such as many\u00a0in sub-Saharan Africa, are effectively trapped in a vicious\u00a0cycle in which increasing demand on natural resources\u00a0contributes to poor and unsustainable management of the\u00a0same, leading to their further depletion.<\/p>\n<p>We will continue to\u00a0build resilient ecosystems and landscapes for sustainable\u00a0livelihoods and job creation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><hr class=\"x-line e28538-e20 mm0q-2 mm0q-3\"\/><\/div><div  class=\"x-column x-sm x-1-3\" style=\"padding: 0px;\" ><div id=\"\" class=\"x-text cs-ta-left\" style=\"\" ><h5 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>CLIMATE ADAPTATION<\/strong><\/h5>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p>All of our work is designed and implemented through an\u00a0environmental, sustainability and climate adaptation lens\u00a0as we believe this is essential to achieving the global UN\u00a0Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n<p>Climate Smart Agriculture and agro-ecology approaches are central to all our\u00a0work supporting sustainable agricultural development. Our\u00a0agriculture interventions are designed to achieve ecological\u00a0intensification of production systems while increasing the\u00a0climate resilience of farmers and food systems at large.<\/p>\n<p>This serves to promote the sequestration of carbon in soils\u00a0and biomass.
