SHA is an International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that promotes and implements long-term rural development projects in Africa with over 20 years of experience working with rural communities, working with local communities in 9 Africa countries with a vision of a resilient rural Africa where smallholder farmers and their families prosper and thrive.
The European Commission has funded Self Help Africa to implement a five years’ program entitled “Strengthening the competitiveness of cassava value chain in Kenya”, the program is being implemented in 6 counties namely, Kilifi, Migori, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia and Siaya.
Self Help Africa would like to engage financial institutions/intermediaries to complement the Lead Financial Partner in facilitating access to financial services amongst cassava value chain clients. The financial services to be provided include payments, savings, loans and insurance. The financial institutions or intermediaries targeted include credit only microfinance institutions, Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (that are regulated by SASRA) and financial technology companies (FinTechs). The clients targeted with the financial services include seed entrepreneurs, smallholder farmers, micro and small and medium enterprises (farmer producer groups, aggregation centers, transporters and traders) within the Cassava Value Chain.
